Bessemer, AL (PRWeb) January 12, 2007 -- Kerry Rhodes of the New York Jets has confirmed his plans to attend his high school alma mater, to cheer on his little brother Justin. Kerry, while at Jess Lanier High School, led the basketball team to the 6A title game. Justin, now in his junior year will have his #1 fan, his big brother Kerry showing his support in the stands as he attempts to do the same.

Kerry, along with his RHODES Foundation, have renovation plans to enhance the athletic department beginning in late May 2007. To commemorate these enhancements, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held during the RHODES Foundation's 1st Annual Celebrity Charity Weekend this summer June 29 -July 1, 2007 with the celebrity basketball game on June 30, 2007. During an interview with the NY Times, Kerry told the reporter, "I always said, once I made it I would give back to my community." Kerry is very mindful of the solid foundation and support he gained during his time at Jess Lanier High. In honor of those valuable gifts, this is one way Kerry is giving back to his community.

As Kerry gives, he is given to as well. On January 8, 2007, Kerry was selected by the Associated Press to their 2006 NFL All-Pro Team. On January 2, 2007 Sports Illustrated names Kerry to their All Pro Team and ESPN.com chose Kerry as well for their 2006 All Pro Team (in Dec 2006). Additionally, Kerry was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3 (2006 season) and honored with the 2006 Jets Sparkplug of the Year Award. With 5 sacks, 4 interceptions and 9 defended passes among many other impressive 2006 NFL stats, Kerry is very deserving of these accolades.
